Tauer Perfumes Lonestar Memories EDT
Description
Lonestar Memories is Andy Tauer's 2006 ode to birch tar: a rugged, evocative scent built around the image of a lone rider by a campfire on the open frontier. Clary sage, carrot seed and green geranium open into a leathery heart of cistus (labdanum) and jasmine, before settling into a dry base of vetiver, myrrh, sandalwood and tonka bean. Fragrantica classifies it as a woody chypre; Kafkaesque's review memorably called it “Mad Max meets sticky orange.” Andy Tauer's own site describes it simply: “true and unique, rich and lasting.”

FAQ
What does birch tar smell like?
A smoky, phenolic, leathery note. It's the same material used in traditional leather-scent production. Reviews are split: some find it rugged and characterful, others find it sharp or plastic-like in the opening.
Is it unisex?
Yes, Fragrantica lists it as a fragrance for both women and men.
How is this different from other Tauer smoky scents?
Lonestar Memories is Tauer's dedicated birch-tar composition, smokier and more leather-forward than the desert-amber themes of L'Air du Désert Marocain or Au Coeur du Désert.
What's the longevity like?
Generally strong, around 8–10 hours, though how present it feels depends on your sensitivity to the birch tar note itself.
