Tauer Perfumes L'air Du Desert Marocain Noir Elixir
Description
Noir Elixir isn't a simple reissue of Tauer's most famous fragrance. It's a deeper, darker continuation of the same story. Where the original L'Air du Désert Marocain evokes warm, resinous desert earth, the 2025 Noir Elixir contrasts that warmth against cool, sparkling night air: Tauer describes the amber here as “drier, more expansive, vast like the night.” Built at 30% concentration, it opens on spiced citrus and petitgrain before a labdanum-leather-jasmine heart settles into a mineral, mossy base of patchouli, oakmoss, vetiver and cedarwood.
How It Differs From L'Air du Désert Marocain EDT
- Concentration: Noir Elixir is a 30% elixir; the original is an Eau de Toilette Intense. The Elixir runs noticeably richer and longer-lasting.
- Opening: the Elixir's top is sharper and more citrus-green (petitgrain, lemon, bergamot) against the EDT's warmer cumin-coriander spice.
- Character: the EDT is the daytime desert. Warm, dry, resinous. The Noir Elixir is the desert at night, cooler, darker, more leather-forward, with an almost aquatic mineral facet against the same amber core.
- Choose the EDT for the original 2005 formula that made Tauer's name; choose the Noir Elixir for a stronger, more nocturnal, more leather-driven take on the same desert theme.
Scent Character
- Oud/Woody-Resinous: 26% (labdanum & leather driven, no true agarwood in the formula)
- Woody: 26%
- Fresh: 24%
- Floral: 8%
- Spicy: 8%
- Sweet: 8%
Translation: a cool, citrus-green top opening onto a dark, leathery-resinous woody heart, noticeably darker and more mineral than the original EDT.

FAQ
Is this the same as the original L'Air du Désert Marocain?
No. Noir Elixir is a separate, darker continuation of the original 2005 fragrance, not a replacement or reformulation. Both remain in Tauer's lineup as distinct releases.
Is Noir Elixir men's or women's?
Unisex. Fragrantica lists it as a fragrance for both women and men.
How long does it last?
At 30% elixir concentration, expect 10+ hours of wear with strong initial sillage.
Is there real oud in it?
No true agarwood. The dark, resinous depth comes from labdanum and leather-facet materials rather than agarwood oil.
