The Blazing Mister Sam Intense takes Penhaligon's loudest Portrait and moves it into darker territory: plum liqueur and tobacco over leather and patchouli. Released in 2026 as part of the house's new Intense versions of its Portraits, it keeps the character of the original, a brash, big-spending American abroad, but swaps the bright spice for something heavier. Penhaligon's describes patchouli catching fire in plum liqueur and tobacco, with Mister Sam taking a bigger risk this time. Expect a boozy, fruity opening that settles into a dry, leathery tobacco base.

How It Differs From The Blazing Mister Sam

• The original (2018) is a spice bomb: cardamom, cinnamon, black pepper, saffron and cumin over tobacco, vanilla, cedar and patchouli. Hot and bright.
• The Intense (2026) drops the spice-rack opening for plum liqueur, and adds leather to the tobacco and patchouli. Darker, boozier and more of an evening scent.
• Choose the original if you love warm spice; choose the Intense if you want fruit, booze and leather.
