Description

Parfums de Marly Herod is the house's iconic spicy-vanilla tobacco: a smoky, masculine signature that helped put the brand on the map. Launched in 2012, Herod builds a peppered cinnamon opening into a smoldering heart of tobacco leaf, frankincense and osmanthus, then a sweet vanilla-cedar dry-down. Reviewers reach for it as a confident cold-weather scent and frequently compare it to other tobacco-vanilla heavyweights. Warm, resinous and unmistakably grown-up.

Scent Character

  • Smoky / Resinous: 33%
  • Woody: 29%
  • Spicy: 17%
  • Sweet: 12%
  • Floral: 8%

Translation: a smoky, resinous tobacco-wood scent, incense and cedar laced with peppery spice and a sweet vanilla finish.

Fragrance Pyramid

Top: Cinnamon, Pepperwood

Heart: Tobacco, Osmanthus, Cistus, Frankincense

FAQ

Is Herod for men or women? It's marketed as a men's fragrance and the smoky tobacco-spice profile skews masculine, though plenty of women wear and love it.

How long does Herod last? Strong performance, generally 7–10 hours on skin. Note that newer batches read slightly lighter than the original formulation.

Does Herod actually contain oud? No. Despite its dark, smoky character, Herod has no agarwood. The smokiness comes from frankincense, cypriol and tobacco, which is why we describe it as smoky/resinous rather than oud.

What's the difference between the old and new packaging? The juice is the signature Herod profile in both; newer production has been lightly reformulated and reads a touch softer than older bottles. We stock both so you can choose.
