Description

Brutus is an earthy, musky patchouli fougère that opens bright and ends in a dark forest floor. It was released in 2014 as part of the first Orto Parisi collection by Alessandro Gualtieri, the Italian perfumer behind Nasomatto, whose Orto Parisi line explores raw, bodily and earthy themes. Bergamot and mandarin give it a sharp citrus start, lavender, geranium and rose form an aromatic middle, and the base is patchouli, cedar, oakmoss, labdanum, amber and musk. Reviewers note that the patchouli is earthy without being heavy, and that musk does as much work as the patchouli in the drydown. It is one of the more wearable Orto Parisi scents, though it keeps the house's rough edge.

Scent Character

Translation: fresh citrus and lavender carry the opening, then woods and a warm, resinous base take over. The amber share is the patchouli and labdanum. There is no oud in it.
