Montale Honey Aoud EDP
Description
Honey Aoud is the fragrance that makes oud approachable, and it does it by pouring honey over the parts most people find difficult. Released in 2015, it opens on a thick, almost syrupy honey note, moves through cinnamon and florals into Montale's signature agarwood, and finishes on leather, vanilla and amber. The oud here is Western, smoky and resinous rather than barnyard-animalic, and the honey and cinnamon round off its sharp edges without burying it. The result sits somewhere between an amber and a gourmand: sweet, creamy and spicy, but without the cloying weight either genre usually brings.
Scent Character
- Sweet: 50%
- Woody: 25%
- Spicy: 25%
Translation: honey and vanilla account for half the profile, with the agarwood and leather carried inside that woody quarter and cinnamon supplying the spice. The sweetness is what you meet first, and the oud is what you are still wearing eight hours later.
Fragrance Pyramid
- Top: Honey
- Heart: Oud, Cinnamon, Floral Notes
- Base: Leather, Vanilla, Amber
Performance
Longevity: Excellent, 8–12 hours is typical, with reports well beyond.
Sillage: Strong, in the way Montale is generally strong.
Projection: Moderate to loud for several hours.
An honest note: some wearers report fifteen hours or more on skin. As with the rest of the Montale catalogue, the practical risk is over-application rather than disappointment, one or two sprays is genuinely enough, and the base notes will still be there at the end of the night.
Best Occasions & Season
Built for Fall and Winter, and suited to Evening and Special Occasion wear. Cold air suits the honey-oud combination; in summer heat the sweetness amplifies and can turn syrupy. Its projection makes it a difficult daytime office choice.
Concentration & Provenance
Concentration: Eau de Parfum
House: Montale

Try Before You Commit
Honey is one of the riskiest notes in perfumery. Worn wrong it can read as waxy or animalic on skin, and how it behaves is genuinely person-specific. Combined with the longevity here, that makes sampling the sensible route. A 1mL decant is $3.99 and 5mL is $14.99, both hand-poured from genuine retail bottles.

FAQ
Does it actually contain oud?
Yes. Unlike many fragrances with oud in the name, there is real agarwood here in the heart. It is Western oud, so it reads smoky and resinous rather than animalic, and the honey and cinnamon soften it considerably.
Is it too sweet?
It is genuinely sweet, but the oud, leather and cinnamon pull against it hard enough that most wearers do not find it cloying. If you dislike honey notes specifically, this will not change your mind.
Is this a good first oud fragrance?
It is one of the better entry points. The agarwood is present and recognisable but wrapped in sweetness, which makes it far easier to wear than a dry, medicinal oud.
Is it unisex?
Yes. Montale lists it for women and men, and the honey-oud-amber structure is worn widely across the board.
