It opens with cardamom, grapefruit, bergamot, and cinnamon leaf, moves into a spiced heart of elemi, pimento (allspice), and orris, and settles into a smoky woody base of Indian sandalwood, fig milk, Madagascar vetiver, and cypriol. Launched in 2022, the perfumer has said she drew on the darkness of ebony chessboards, using smoky vetiver and cedar-adjacent woods to give the composition its resilient, grounded finish, an ode to partnership and shared strategy as much as to victory.
