Description

Encelade sets juicy green rhubarb against a smoky leather and lets vetiver and sandalwood hold the two together. It comes from Marc-Antoine Barrois, the Paris couturier whose fragrances are made entirely in France, and was composed by his long-time partner Quentin Bisch. Named after Enceladus, the geyser moon of Saturn, it was created during the COVID-19 lockdowns and was meant to feel like a warm embrace. The house describes it as a game of paradoxes, powerful but delicate, bright but dark: tart rhubarb and sap at the top, a leather accord in the middle, then milky sandalwood, Atlas cedar and a tonka finish with a nutty, tobacco-like edge.

Translation: a woody fragrance through and through. Vetiver, cedar and sandalwood make up most of it, the smoky leather sits inside that woody frame, and tonka supplies the sweet share.
