Description

Lorenzo Pazzaglia doesn’t do subtle, and Incenso Notturno (“Night Incense”) is no exception: a gothic descent from bright, peppery citrus into deep, church-dark resin and smoke. Released in 2024 as part of the Italian niche house’s fearless amber line, it opens with elemi, lemon peel, and white pepper before black pepper, cinnamon, and damask rose stir the heart, giving way to a smoldering base of incense, oud, sandalwood, and musk. It’s the smell of an unlit candlelit chapel at midnight: reverent, a little unsettling, and entirely memorable.

Scent Character

  • Spicy: 25%
  • Woody: 22%
  • Oud/Agarwood: 19%
  • Sweet (amber, vanilla): 16%
  • Fresh (citrus): 12%
  • Floral: 6%

Translation: This isn’t a soft cup of tea and roses. Incenso Notturno leans hard into peppery spice, dark wood, and real agarwood, with just enough amber sweetness and citrus lift to keep it from tipping into pure incense-shop intensity.

Fragrance Pyramid

Top: Bergamot, Elemi Resin, Lemon Peel, White Pepper

Heart: Agarwood (Oud), Black Pepper, Cinnamon, Damask Rose, Nutmeg, Patchouli

Base: Incense, Ambergris, Cedarwood, Musk, Sandalwood, Vanilla

Performance

Longevity: Long-lasting. Expect 8+ hours on skin, true to the extrait concentration.

Sillage: Heavy. This one announces itself; a single spray is plenty for daytime, two for a night out.

Projection: Strong for the first few hours, settling into a rich, close-range smoke-and-resin trail by the base stage.

Best Occasions & Season

Built for cold-weather evenings: Fall and Winter, plus cool Spring nights. Save it for date nights, dinners out, or anywhere you want to be remembered; its intensity can read as too much for the office or casual daytime wear.

Concentration & Provenance

Concentration: Extrait de Parfum. The highest oil concentration, giving the most intense and long-lasting wear.

Perfumer: Lorenzo Pazzaglia

House: Lorenzo Pazzaglia (Italy), an independent niche house known for bold, story-driven scents in sleek, owl-branded bottles.

Launched: 2024

FAQ

Q: Is Incenso Notturno unisex?
A: Yes, it’s designed to be worn by anyone.

Q: Does it contain real oud?
A: Yes. Agarwood (oud) appears in the heart accord alongside patchouli and rose, a genuine component rather than a marketing label.

Q: Is it too intense for daytime wear?
A: For most people, yes. Its resinous, smoky character is best suited to evenings and cooler weather.

Q: What’s the difference between Extrait de Parfum and Eau de Parfum?
A: Extrait de parfum has a higher concentration of fragrance oil, which generally means stronger projection and longer wear than an EDP.
