Description

Love Triumphs Over War is a fruity, powdery floral with a warm spice thread and a soft amber base. Christian Petrovich created it for Argos in 2023, inspired by Peter Paul Rubens's painting of Venus disarming Mars. Bergamot, lemon, orange blossom, rose petals, raspberry and a touch of blackcurrant open it bright and juicy. The heart is violet, iris, gardenia and geranium, warmed by cinnamon and clove with a hint of ylang-ylang. The base is amber, white musk, Mysore sandalwood, cashmere wood, patchouli and vanilla. Argos calls it unisex leaning feminine.

Translation: floral first, from rose, violet, iris and gardenia, with raspberry and vanilla bringing the sweetness. Cinnamon and clove add warmth, sandalwood gives body, and the resinous share comes from amber and patchouli, not from oud.
