Yves Saint Laurent Tuxedo Extrait
Description
Tuxedo Extrait de Parfum is the intensified 2026 edition of Yves Saint Laurent’s iconic Le Smoking tribute, created by perfumer Juliette Karagueuzoglou. Where the original Tuxedo opened with cool violet leaf and coriander, the Extrait rebalances the pyramid around warm saffron, pink pepper and bergamot, introducing a rose-and-leather heart and an oakwood “emboisement” process that macerated the patchouli in oakwood shavings. The result is darker, spicier and longer-lasting — a black-tie statement rewritten in bolder ink.
Part of the Le Vestiaire des Parfums collection, this extrait draws on the drama of the 1966 Le Smoking tuxedo while pushing the scent toward a richer, more resinous finish.

FAQ
- What does YSL Tuxedo Extrait smell like?
- Tuxedo Extrait opens with warm saffron and pink pepper brightened by bergamot, moves into a heart of rose, leather and violet leaf, and dries down to oakwood-macerated patchouli with vanilla bean absolute. It is a spicy leather chypre with strong longevity.
- How is the Tuxedo Extrait different from the original Tuxedo?
- The 2026 Extrait replaces the original’s cool violet-leaf-and-coriander opening with warm saffron and pink pepper, adds rose and leather to the heart, and macerated the patchouli in oakwood shavings for a deeper, smokier base. It is richer, spicier and longer-lasting than the EdP.
- Does YSL Tuxedo Extrait contain oud?
- No. The dark, leathery depth comes from a combination of leather accord, oakwood-macerated patchouli and violet leaf — not agarwood. There is no oud in the composition.
- Is Tuxedo Extrait for men or women?
- It is unisex. The original Tuxedo was inspired by women wearing Le Smoking menswear, and the Extrait carries that same gender-fluid sensibility. The leather and saffron give it edge; the rose and vanilla provide warmth.
