Anne Flipo and Carlos Benaïm built the 2019 original on a contrast few women's fragrances had tried: French lavender, a note usually found in men's fougères, against warm Moroccan orange blossom and vanilla. Every Libre since keeps that pairing and changes what surrounds it: white tea, orchid, ginger and honey, or raspberry. The differences are real but subtle on paper, which is exactly why wearing them is better than reading about them. It makes an easy gift for any Libre fan.

• Libre EDT: mandarin, bergamot and lavender over orange blossom, jasmine and a white tea accord, on tonka, vanilla and musk. The lightest and freshest.
• Libre EDP: the 2019 original. French lavender and Moroccan orange blossom with jasmine, on Madagascar vanilla, musk and cedar.
• Libre Intense: lavender and orange blossom deepened with orchid, on vanilla and tonka. Warmer, sweeter and stronger.
• Libre Le Parfum: ginger, saffron and mandarin over orange blossom and lavender, on vanilla, honey and tonka. Spiced and honeyed.
• Libre Berry Crush: raspberry and mandarin over orange blossom and lavender, on vanilla, coconut and musk. Fruity and soft.

How To Use a Discovery Set

Each 1mL sample comes in a 2mL vial filled halfway, so the vial will look half full. That is the correct amount. Every vial is labeled with the fragrance name.

Wear one fragrance a day, on skin rather than a paper strip, and give it the whole day. The first ten minutes are the loudest and least representative part of any fragrance; judge it at hour three. Once you have a shortlist of two, wear them on opposite wrists and compare. Start with the EDP as your reference point, then compare the others against it.
