Description

A spiced almond rendered in Xerjoff's usual high-gloss finish, cardamom and bergamot up front, cinnamon and clove through the middle, warm cedar and amber underneath. Composed by Soïzic Beaucourt, Starlight belongs to Xerjoff's Shooting Stars collection, the Turin house's gourmand-leaning line, and has been in the range since 2019. Reviewers consistently single out the fusion of bergamot, cinnamon, clove and almond as the reason it works: the spices stop the almond from collapsing into dessert, and the cedar-amber base finishes it dry and resinous rather than syrupy. Comforting, but not remotely shy.

Scent Character

  • Spicy: 38%
  • Sweet: 25%
  • Woody: 25%
  • Fresh: 12%

Translation: spicy-woody with a gourmand lean. Cardamom, cinnamon and clove carry the composition; the sweetness comes from almond and amber rather than sugar, and the cedar keeps the whole thing dry. Think warm baking spice over polished wood, not a dessert.

Fragrance Pyramid

Top: Cardamom, Bergamot

Heart: Almond, Cinnamon, Clove

Base: Amber, Cedarwood, balsamic notes

Performance

  • Longevity: 8–10 hours is typical, with a fair number of wearers reporting 10–12.
  • Sillage: moderate-to-strong, and more assertive than a spiced-almond scent might lead you to expect.
  • Projection: two to three feet for the first couple of hours, then settling to arm's length.

Note: this is a potent composition, and reviewers regularly advise restraint with the atomiser. Start at two sprays and add from there.

Best Occasions & Season

  • Season: Fall and Winter above all; cool spring evenings work well too.
  • Occasions: Evening and Night Out.
  • Gender: Unisex.
  • Skip for: hot, humid weather, where the clove-cinnamon accord amplifies and can turn heavy.

Try Before You Commit

Spiced almond is a genuinely divisive genre, people who love it tend to love it for years, and people who don't know within one wear. Start with a 1 mL sample at $7.99, or take a 5 mL decant at $33.99 or a 10 mL decant at $60.99 to wear it properly across a full season before committing to the 50 ml bottle.

100% Authentic

Every decant is hand-poured from a sealed retail bottle verified for authenticity, never a batch-code mystery. Over 200,000 orders shipped, rated 4.9★ on Trustpilot, free US shipping on orders over $100, and hassle-free returns.

FAQ

Is Starlight for men or women? Unisex. The spice structure keeps it from reading feminine, and the almond keeps it from reading strictly masculine.

How long does it last? Expect 8–10 hours on skin, with reports of 10–12 from heavier appliers. Projection is strongest in the first two hours.

Is it a gourmand? Only partly. The almond and amber give it a gourmand lean, but cardamom, cinnamon and clove dominate and the cedar base dries it out. It is closer to a spicy woody than to a true dessert fragrance.

Is Starlight like the other Shooting Stars fragrances? Not especially. Shooting Stars is a collection name spanning several distinct compositions, not a shared scent profile, sampling one tells you little about the others.
