Description

1888 is a 2013 release from Casamorati, Xerjoff's sub-line built as an homage to the 19th-century Bologna perfumery "La Fabbrica di Profumeria di C. Casamorati", a vintage-Italian-apothecary aesthetic distinct from Xerjoff's main-line maximalism. Composed by Karine Vinchon-Spehner, it opens with green pepper, coriander and a generous dose of Persian saffron alongside a spicy carnation accord, moves into a seductive Indonesian ylang-ylang and Moroccan neroli heart, and settles into a rich Mysore sandalwood, amber and patchouli base. It's classic, old-world Italian perfumery. Warm, spiced and elegant rather than loud.

Scent Character

  • Spicy (Carnation, Saffron): 33%
  • Amber: 30%
  • Floral (Ylang-Ylang, Neroli): 22%
  • Woody (Sandalwood, Patchouli): 15%

Translation: A spicy floral amber, peppery carnation and saffron up top, a lush tropical-floral heart, finishing on warm amber and sandalwood. Reads elegant, old-world and confidently spiced.

Longevity: Excellent, reviewer consensus puts this at 8–10+ hours, with several noting all-day wear from a single spray.

Projection: Confident and room-filling early on, settling into a warm, close trail as it dries down.

FAQ

Q: What's the difference between a tester and the standard bottle?
A: The juice is identical. A tester ships without retail outer packaging (sometimes with a plain cap), which is why it costs less.

Q: What is Casamorati, and how is it different from mainline Xerjoff?
A: Casamorati is Xerjoff's vintage-Italian-apothecary sub-line, inspired by a real 19th-century Bologna perfumery. It leans classic and old-world rather than the rare-material maximalism of Xerjoff's main collections.

Q: Is 1888 unisex?
A: Yes. The spicy-floral-amber structure wears well on any skin.

Q: How does it compare to other Casamorati releases?
A: 1888 is the spiced, carnation-and-saffron-forward entry in the line, distinct from lighter Casamorati florals like Bouquet Ideale.
