Fougère Platine was Tom Ford's glossy, modern take on the aromatic fougère, a genre normally built on lavender, oakmoss, and coumarin that Tom Ford stripped down and polished into something sleeker. Perfumers Olivier Gillotin and Linda Song opened it with clary sage, lavender, and bergamot, ran it through a honeyed, incense-laced artemisia heart, and grounded it in tobacco and cedar rather than the traditional moss. Tom Ford discontinued it not long after its 2018 release, and it's since developed a following among reviewers who consider it one of the house's more underrated Private Blend releases, a "formal fougère" for anyone whose only reference point was Chanel's Égoïste.
