Sandalwood in Oak is a creamy sandalwood with a caramelised, smoky edge. Scents of Wood ages its perfumes in wooden barrels, much as a spirit is aged, and this 2020 release by perfumer Mackenzie Reilly is one of the house's best-loved. Burnt sugar, smoked sage and pink pepper open it, guaiac wood, olibanum and iris root form a resinous heart, and smooth sandalwood, musk and vanilla carry the drydown. Reviewers call it a gorgeous, smooth and dry sandalwood that is warm, sweet and inviting without ever turning cloying.
