Scents of Wood Cedar in Acacia EDP
Description
Cedar in Acacia is a spiced, incense-touched cedar that feels like cold air and old stone. Scents of Wood ages its perfumes in wooden barrels, much as a spirit is aged, and this 2020 release by perfumer Pascal Gaurin builds its woods from ginger oil, cinnamon bark, cypriol, orris concrete, olibanum and cedramber. One reviewer described it as misty, drizzling rain in the Pacific Northwest and a stone monastery filled with incense. Others find it cleaner and more restrained than they expected, so it suits people who like dry woods over sweet ones.
Scent Character
- Woody: 26%
- Smoky & Boozy: 26%
- Floral: 25%
- Spicy: 23%
Translation: an even balance of cedar and cypriol woods, olibanum smoke, powdery orris and warm ginger-cinnamon spice. Nothing dominates, which is why it reads as calm rather than loud.
Fragrance Pyramid
- Notes: Ginger, Cinnamon Bark, Cypriol (Nagarmotha), Orris, Olibanum, Cedramber
Note: the house publishes a single list of notes rather than a top, heart and base pyramid. Ginger and cinnamon lead the opening, and olibanum and cedar last longest.
Performance
Longevity: Around 4–6 hours on skin.
Sillage: Moderate. Some wearers find it subdued.
Projection: Arm's length for the first hour or two, then close.
An honest note: reviews split between people who find it immersive and people who find it too clean. It is a dry cedar-incense scent, not a sweet one.
