Kayali Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar EDP
Description
Spun sugar, warm vanilla and a splash of rum, the playful, lighter-hearted sister to Kayali's cult Vanilla | 28.
Created by Gabriela Chelariu and Fabrice Pellegrin for Kayali in 2024, Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar | 42 is a floral fruity gourmand that reads like a confectionery counter rendered in good taste. Juicy pear and marshmallow lift the opening, a candy-shop heart of bubble gum, jellybean and caramel keeps things grinning, and a base of sugar, tonka and creamy woods stops it collapsing into pure sweetness. Reviewers call it "beautifully sweet, fun, sugary, flirty, playful, vanilla forward", and, tellingly, "more mature" than the candy-scent category usually allows.
How It Differs From Kayali Vanilla | 28
- Vanilla | 28: the richer, denser, boozier signature vanilla; the one people mean when they say "the Kayali vanilla."
- Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar | 42: lighter, fruitier and more youthful; pear and marshmallow in place of the deep brown-sugar weight.
- Pick 42 if you want the vanilla to feel airy and playful rather than enveloping, or if | 28 has ever read too heavy on your skin.
Scent Character
- Sweet: 35%
- Woody: 35%
- Floral: 18%
Translation: a sugared-vanilla gourmand sitting on a genuinely creamy woody base. The sweetness leads and stays legible the whole way through, but patchouli, sandalwood and cashmere wood give it a soft structure underneath, which is why it wears as a grown-up dessert rather than a body spray.
Fragrance Pyramid
Top: Vanilla, Pear, Marshmallow, Rum, Violet Leaves, Ylang-Ylang
Heart: Bubble Gum, Jellybean, Caramel, Jasmine, Labdanum
Base: Sugar, Patchouli, Tonka, Cashmere Wood, Sandalwood, Vetiver
Performance
- Longevity: Moderate. Most wearers report roughly 4–6 hours on skin, with some getting closer to 8. On clothing and hair it holds noticeably longer, in the 6–8 hour range.
- Sillage: Moderate. It announces itself for the first couple of hours, then settles into a softer, closer sweetness.
- Projection: Around 3–4 feet in the opening phase, drawing in to arm's length after roughly two hours.
Honest note: this is the lighter reading of the Kayali vanilla idea. If you want something that projects hard all day, | 28 is the stronger performer: 42 trades some of that weight for wearability.
Best Occasions & Season
- Occasions: Everyday wear, casual daytime, dates and evenings out, a comfort scent more than a formal one.
- Season: Happiest in fall and winter, when the sugar and tonka have cold air to push against, but light enough to wear year-round.
- Gender: Composed as a feminine fragrance, though anyone who enjoys a sweet gourmand can wear it.
- Skip for: Conservative offices and formal business settings. The candy accord is deliberately loud in the first hour.

FAQ
Is this the same as Kayali Vanilla | 28?
No. Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar | 42 is a separate 2024 release, lighter, fruitier and more playful, built on pear, marshmallow and candy accords rather than | 28's denser brown-sugar vanilla.
How long does it actually last?
Expect around 4–6 hours on skin for most people, with 6–8 hours on clothing. It is a moderate performer, not a beast-mode gourmand.
Is it too sweet for everyday wear?
It is unmistakably sweet in the first hour, then settles considerably as the woods and tonka come forward. Most wearers find the drydown comfortable for daily use. One spray is usually plenty.
Does it contain oud?
No. There is no agarwood in this fragrance. The depth in the base comes from patchouli, sandalwood and cashmere wood, which is why it reads creamy-woody rather than smoky.
