Description

Sparkling Lychee is Kayali's fruit-cocktail fragrance, lychee and blackcurrant poured over a sugared vanilla base, and it is exactly as cheerful as that sounds. Its full name is Eden Sparkling Lychee | 39, the "39" being its number within the Kayali library and "Eden" its fruity-floral sub-collection. Mona Kattan developed it with dsm-firmenich senior perfumer Gabriela Chelariu and released it in December 2023. The opening is the point: juicy lychee, tart blackcurrant, red apple and Italian lemon, bright and slightly fizzy. A soft floral heart of violet, rose and jasmine sambac keeps it from reading purely like candy, and the base (sugar, vanilla absolute, musk, amber, sandalwood and cedar) gives it the warm, sweet trail Kayali is known for. Reviewers reach for words like blackcurrant cordial and fruit-gum sweets, and mean it fondly.

How It Differs From Kayali Eden Juicy Apple | 01

  • Sparkling Lychee | 39: lychee and blackcurrant. Tarter, more floral, slightly more grown-up, with a violet-rose heart doing real work.
  • Juicy Apple | 01: apple-forward and rounder. The more straightforwardly sweet and more literal of the two fruits.
  • Both are from the Eden sub-line and layer well together: which is the entire Kayali proposition. If you only want one, Sparkling Lychee is the more interesting on its own.

Scent Character

  • Sweet: 55%
  • Floral: 20%
  • Woody: 15%
  • Fresh: 10%

Translation: a sweet fruity-floral, and the number that matters least is the biggest one. The 55% "sweet" is measuring the sugar-vanilla-amber base, not the sparkle. There is no fruit column in this scale, so the lychee and blackcurrant that define the fragrance register nowhere. The woody 15% is the sandalwood and cedar quietly holding the base up; you will not consciously smell wood.

Fragrance Pyramid

Performance

  • Longevity: 5–7 hours as a fair average, and the reports genuinely split. Some wearers get 8 or more and call the lychee tenacious; others find it a faint sweet skin scent by hour four or five. Fruity-florals of this construction are unusually skin-dependent.
  • Sillage: strong and noticeable for the first hour or two, when the fruit is at full volume, then settling into a soft sugared-musk aura.
  • Projection: two to three feet early on. This one is noticed on arrival.

If longevity is your deciding factor, sample before you buy a full bottle. This is a fragrance people either get all day from or don't, with very little middle ground.

Best Occasions & Season

  • Season: Spring and Summer. Warm weather is what makes the lychee and blackcurrant sparkle; in cold weather the base flattens the fruit.
  • Occasions: everyday wear, daytime social, brunches and parties. Cheerful rather than formal.
  • Gender: catalogued and marketed for women, and it does wear distinctly feminine, though a sweet fruity-floral is not inherently gendered, and plenty of men wear this family happily.
  • Skip for: conservative offices and anywhere sweetness is unwelcome. This is not a discreet fragrance in its first hours.

FAQ

Is this the same as "Eden Sparkling Lychee | 39"?
Yes: identical fragrance. Kayali numbers each release and groups them into sub-collections; this one is number 39 in the Eden line. You will see it listed both ways.

Does it actually smell like lychee?
It does, recognisably: sweet, slightly floral, a little like the fruit in syrup rather than fresh off the tree. The blackcurrant sharpens it and stops it from becoming one-dimensional.

How long will it last?
Expect 5–7 hours, with the fruit strongest in the first two. Reports vary widely on this fragrance (some wearers get 8+ hours, others considerably less) so a sample is the honest recommendation before committing to a large size.

How does it compare to Kayali Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar | 42?
Sparkling Lychee is fruit-led and brighter; Candy Rock Sugar is vanilla-led and denser, closer to a dessert. Sparkling Lychee is the easier daytime wear of the two; Candy Rock Sugar is the cosier one.

Which season is it best in?
Spring and summer. Some sources file it as a fall-winter scent. That does not match how it wears. The fruit needs warmth to stay lively.
