Opus XVI: Timber is Amouage's ode to Oman's ancient frankincense trees, composed by Alexis Grugeon for the Library Collection. It opens on a green, aromatic blast of cypress and juniper spiced with cardamom, pink pepper, and an unexpected dusting of cocoa, then moves into a resinous heart of frankincense, fir, and lavender before settling into a towering base of sandalwood, palo santo, cedarwood, vanilla, and patchouli. The effect is deliberately arboreal, less a perfume built around a single wood than an entire forest of them, anchored by the same frankincense-tree heritage that runs through Amouage's Omani identity.
