Orto Parisi Cuoium Parfum
Description
Cuoium is Latin for leather, and Alessandro Gualtieri took the brief literally. This is raw hide, not a boutique leather accord. Released in 2021 under his Orto Parisi label, it opens animalic and woody, passes briefly through violet, and settles into leather, incense, cade oil, labdanum, cedar, patchouli and vanilla. The cade oil is what makes it singular: a smoky, tarry, almost medicinal birch-tar quality that smells less like a new jacket and more like a working tannery, oiled hides, old tools, smoke. Gualtieri built his reputation on fragrances that refuse to be polite, and this is one of the least polite things he has made.
Scent Character
- Woody: 40%
- Leather: 40%
- Sweet: 10%
- Floral: 10%
Translation: leather and dry woods split the composition almost entirely between them, with cade oil and incense supplying the smoke; the small sweet and floral fractions are the vanilla and violet, and they exist only to stop the leather from becoming completely airless.

Performance
Longevity: Extreme, commonly 12–16 hours on skin, with reports well beyond that on clothing.
Sillage: Enormous. This fills a room and stays there.
Projection: Heavy for many hours before it finally settles.
An honest note: the warning on this one is about restraint, not disappointment. Cuoium is an Extrait de Parfum in the most literal sense and a single spray is a genuine commitment for the day. It is also, by design, a difficult fragrance. The animalic and tarry facets read as brilliant to people who want that and as frankly unpleasant to people who do not. There is very little middle ground.
Best Occasions & Season
Built for Fall and Winter, and suited to Evening, Leisure and Night Out wear. Cold air keeps the smoke and leather legible; heat amplifies the animalic side considerably. Given the projection, this is not an office fragrance and not a close-quarters one.

Try Before You Commit
Of every fragrance we carry, this is close to the strongest argument for buying a decant first. It is expensive, it is extreme, it lasts most of a day, and a substantial number of people who admire it in theory cannot wear it in practice. Find out on 1mL before you find out on 50mL. A 1mL decant is $6.99, 5mL is $31.99, and 10mL is $59.99, all hand-poured from genuine retail bottles.

FAQ
Does Cuoium contain oud?
No. There is no agarwood in the composition. The darkness and smoke people often read as oud come from the leather accord, cade oil and incense, with labdanum and patchouli adding the resinous depth underneath.
Is it really that strong?
Yes. Extreme longevity and projection are the single most consistent point in every review. Start with one spray and wait. This is a fragrance where more is emphatically not better.
What does cade oil smell like?
Smoky, tarry and slightly medicinal. It is distilled from juniper wood and is the traditional material behind birch-tar leather accords. It is the note responsible for the raw, workshop-like quality that separates Cuoium from softer suede fragrances.
Is it unisex?
Yes, though it skews heavily toward what most people read as masculine. Orto Parisi does not gender its releases.
