Sissa is a gourmand amber extrait named for the legendary sage credited with inventing chess. The story goes that Sissa asked his king for a single grain of wheat on the first square of a chessboard, doubled on every square after, a request that balloons into more than 18 quintillion grains by square 64, one of history's best-known illustrations of exponential growth. Perfumer Christelle Laprade built the fragrance around that same idea of small beginnings compounding into something vast: toasted sesame seed and ambrette open it, warming into a heart of milk accord, roasted tonka bean, and jasmine sambac, before settling into a resinous, earthy base of cistus labdanum, Madagascar vanilla, and musk.
