Description

Odéon is a rose served as jam rather than as a flower. Composed by Aliénor Massenet for Memo Paris in 2020 and named for the Left Bank district of bookshops and theatres, it opens on Turkish Isparta rose thickened into something candied and liqueur-like, then settles onto Indonesian patchouli, cashmeran and sandalwood before finishing warm and ambery with tonka bean and musk. The house describes the idea as a liquorous rose with candied date, and that is a fair description of how it wears: dark, sweet and enveloping rather than fresh or dewy.

How It Differs From Memo African Leather

  • African Leather: the same perfumer's spiced, saffron-and-leather signature; drier, animalic, and built around a leather accord.
  • Odéon: sweeter, rounder and rosier; the woods and amber sit underneath the fruit rather than in front of it.
  • If you want Memo's leather house style, African Leather. If you want the same craftsmanship in a gourmand-leaning rose, Odéon.

Scent Character

  • Woody: 21%
  • Spicy: 21%
  • Sweet: 20%
  • Amber-Resinous: 20%
  • Floral (Rose): 18%

Translation: this is one of those profiles where the smallest number matters most. The rose measures lowest of the five and is still the first thing anyone smells. The spread reflects how much patchouli, amber and tonka are packed underneath it. There is no column for the jammy, candied quality that gives Odéon its character, so read the sweet and amber figures together as that facet.

Fragrance Pyramid

Top: Rose, Rose Jam

Heart: Sandalwood, Patchouli, Cashmeran

Base: Tonka Bean, Amber, Musk

Performance

  • Longevity: reported around 6–8 hours by most wearers. We state this as reported experience rather than a house claim.
  • Sillage: genuinely divisive. Some wearers describe a fair amount of projection and a lingering trail; others report it sitting almost entirely on the skin within a short time. Rose-patchouli-amber compositions are unusually skin-dependent, and this one appears to be a clear example.
  • Projection: plan for a moderate, close-wearing scent and treat stronger performance as a bonus rather than the expectation.

Best Occasions & Season

  • Season: autumn and winter; the patchouli-amber-tonka base is built for cold air.
  • Occasions: evenings and nights out, and comfortable enough for cold-weather daily wear if you like a sweet rose.
  • Skip for: hot weather, where the jammy sweetness becomes heavy.
  • Gender: unisex; catalogued and composed as such, though the rose-gourmand direction reads feminine to many wearers.

FAQ

Is this the same as Odéon x Jean Jullien?
Yes, in the juice. The 2025 Jean Jullien release is the same Odéon fragrance in a limited-edition artist-designed bottle, not a reformulation.

Is it the same as Odéon Rosebud?
No. Odéon Rosebud is a separate 2026 fragrance built on apricot, pink pepper, peony and freesia, much brighter and fruitier. Odéon is the darker, jammier, more ambery original.

Does it contain oud?
No agarwood is listed in the composition. The dark, resinous weight underneath the rose comes from patchouli, amber and tonka bean.

Is it a gourmand?
It leans that way without being a dessert. The candied-date and rose-jam effect is sweet, but patchouli and sandalwood keep it on the woody-ambery side of the line.
