Description

Three Marc-Antoine Barrois fragrances, three very different textures: green leather, mineral suede and sunlit linden blossom. Marc-Antoine Barrois is a Paris couturier who approaches perfume the way he approaches tailoring, and every fragrance in his line is composed by Quentin Bisch. None of them lean on heavy sweetness or loud projection; they are textural and quietly absorbing. This sampler puts two of the house's best-known woody scents next to its sunniest floral, which makes it an easy way to learn the house's style before committing to a bottle.

What's Inside

Three 1mL samples:

  • Encelade: tart rhubarb against a smoky leather accord, held together by vetiver, sandalwood, Atlas cedar and tonka. Green, woody and a little dark.
  • Ganymede: saffron and mandarin over osmanthus, immortelle and violet leaf, settling on a mineral suede with akigalawood, cedar, musk and patchouli. Released in 2019 and the house's signature for many fans.
  • Tilia: linden blossom, jasmine sambac and broom, then orange blossom and heliotrope over vetiver and soft ambery woods. Released in 2024; honeyed, bright and summery.

How To Use a Discovery Set

Wear one fragrance per day on bare skin, one or two sprays or dabs on the wrist or neck, and leave it alone for a few hours. The opening is only the first chapter; the drydown is what you live with. Note which ones you keep sniffing, then compare your two favorites side by side before choosing a full bottle.

Marc-Antoine Barrois fragrances reward patience. Encelade and Ganymede change a lot after the first hour, so judge them on the drydown.

Each 1mL sample comes in a 2mL vial filled halfway, so the vial will look half full. That is the right amount, and it gives you several wears of each fragrance.

Best For

  • Anyone curious about Marc-Antoine Barrois who wants to try before buying a bottle
  • Gifting: a considered present for someone who likes woody, leathery or softly floral scents
  • Comparing Ganymede and Encelade, the two woody-leather favorites, side by side
  • Travel: three small vials that fit in any bag
