Marc Antoine Barrois B683 EDP
Description
B683 is a soft, modern leather, warmed by black pepper, chili and saffron and cooled by violet leaf. Created in 2016 by Quentin Bisch, it was the first fragrance from Marc-Antoine Barrois, the Paris couturier, and its name nods to asteroid B-612 from The Little Prince and to the designer's birth date. The house describes it through sprezzatura, the art of looking effortlessly elegant: a hot-and-cold spice opening with a touch of nutmeg, a supple leather heart, then sandalwood, patchouli and oakmoss. It is meant to be worn like a well-cut suit rather than announced, and the house itself calls its trail delicate.
Scent Character
- Spicy: 34%
- Woody: 30%
- Rich Ambers: 16%
- Sweet: 12%
- Fresh: 8%
Translation: spice leads and woods follow. The darker middle share is where the leather, patchouli and oakmoss sit, and the fresh sliver is the violet leaf.
Fragrance Pyramid
- Top: Black Pepper, Chili, Nutmeg, Saffron
- Heart: Violet Leaf, Leather Accord
- Base: Sandalwood, Patchouli, Oakmoss
Note: the house lists B683's notes without assigning tiers. The pyramid above follows how it develops, from spice to leather to woods.
Performance
Longevity: Roughly 7–9 hours on skin.
Sillage: Moderate. The house itself describes the trail as delicate.
Projection: Around arm's length, sitting close after the first couple of hours.
An honest note: this is a refined leather, not a loud one. If you want a fragrance that fills a room, look elsewhere.
Best Occasions & Season
Best in Fall, Winter and Spring. Its restraint makes it one of the easier leathers to wear to the office, and it moves easily into dinner. It is unisex. Skip it in peak summer heat, when the spice and leather lose their polish.
