Mancera Cedrat Boise Intense is the extrait-strength rework of Mancera's best-selling citrus-woody, the same Sicilian-citron DNA, dialled down on fruit and up on oud, leather and wood.

Composed by Pierre Montale, the nose behind both Montale and Mancera, and launched in 2021, the Intense takes the 2011 original's zesty blackcurrant-and-citron opening and drives it into a darker heart of Cambodian oud, leather and white sandalwood, resting on ambergris, vanilla and wild oakmoss. Reviewers are genuinely split on the direction: some read it as drier and less fruity than the original, others as richer and more syrupy. Both camps agree it is the heavier and far longer-lasting of the two.

• Concentration: Intense is an extrait de parfum (around 45% concentration); the original is an eau de parfum.

Is Cedrat Boise Intense just a stronger Cedrat Boise?
Not quite. It is stronger, extrait rather than eau de parfum, but it is also a different balance: less fruit up front, considerably more oud and leather underneath.

Does it really contain oud?
Yes. Cambodian oud sits in the heart alongside leather and white sandalwood, and it is the dominant character after the first half hour. This is not a fragrance where "oud" means a vague smoky resin.
