Maison Crivelli Papyrus Moleculaire EDP
Description
Papyrus Moléculaire takes papyrus, usually dark and smoky, and makes it airy, powdery and dry. Composed by Leslie Girard and released in 2020 by Maison Crivelli, the Paris house founded by Thibaud Crivelli, it was built on a contrast between hot and cold. Coriander leaf and elemi open it cool and green with black pepper, the smoky woodiness of papyrus arrives with carrot seed and a touch of iris, and a milky, musky amyris warms the base alongside frankincense, tobacco and tonka. Reviewers describe a clean, dry, slightly leathery woody scent that wears like a second skin, far lighter than the note list suggests.
Fragrance Pyramid
- Top: Coriander Leaf, Black Pepper, Elemi
- Heart: Papyrus, Carrot Seed, Iris
- Base: Amyris, Olibanum, Tobacco, Tonka Bean
Note: the house publishes these notes as a single list. The tiers above follow how the fragrance unfolds on skin.
Performance
Longevity: Moderate. Expect around 6–8 hours on skin.
Sillage: Soft to moderate. It is built to be transparent.
Projection: Close to arm's length early on, then a dry, powdery woody aura near the skin.
An honest note: if you expect a dense, smoky papyrus, this is not it. The house deliberately kept the heavier materials airy, so it reads quiet and refined.
