Description

Riso is a walk through Shanghai’s streets rendered as scent — rice steam, Sichuan pepper and soy sauce lifted by bright mandarin. Created by Chinese perfumer Zimo Luo for Jijide’s Dialogue Collection and launched in 2023, it opens with the crackle of Sichuan pepper and mandarin, moves through a heart of steamed rice, michelia and chrysanthemum, and dries down into soybean, Chinese cinnamon bark, Haitian vetiver and guaiac wood. The composition captures the contrast of sweet and savoury in Chinese street food: jujube-sweetened rice desserts on one side, the salty depth of soy sauce and warm spices on the other. Luo used mostly local Chinese essential oils in the formulation, making sustainability part of the fragrance’s story.
