Goldfield & Banks Tales of Amber Extrait
Description
Tales of Amber is Goldfield & Banks' 2025 amber, composed by Suzy Le Helley.
Dewy moss and orange blossom open it, a heart of orris, cistus, cinnamon and musk carries the middle, and the base is where the house signature shows: labdanum, New Zealand ambergris, vanillin and Australian agarwood. The same native material behind the house's Silky Woods.
Reviewers reach repeatedly for a Dior Homme comparison because of the powdery orris running through it, while finding this the easier and more comforting of the two. The word that recurs is classy: sharp without being heady, rich without being a powerhouse.
Scent Character
- Woody: 32% (Australian agarwood, ambergris)
- Oud: 27% (Australian agarwood)
- Floral: 18% (orris, orange blossom)
- Sweet: 14% (vanillin, labdanum)
- Spicy: 9% (cinnamon)
Translation: a powdery iris-and-cinnamon amber over real agarwood and ambergris. Resinous and refined rather than loud.

Performance
Longevity: Very good, though worth saying honestly, reviewers place it below the strongest things the house makes rather than among them. Expect a solid evening, not a two-day residue.
Sillage: Present and well-mannered. It is noticed without dominating a room, which is much of its appeal.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the agarwood real?
Yes, and it is Australian, the same native material the house built Silky Woods around, rather than the Middle Eastern or South-East Asian agarwood used almost everywhere else.
Is it really like Dior Homme?
The comparison comes from the powdery orris both share. Reviewers who know both generally find Tales of Amber warmer, more resinous and easier to wear for long stretches.
How does it compare to Silky Woods?
Same house, same Australian agarwood, different intent. Silky Woods is the smoky, suede-and-saffron reading; Tales of Amber is the powdery, iris-and-resin one.
