Byzantine Amber is a classic amber with incense smoke and leather running through it. Francesca Bianchi introduced it in spring 2023 as her own take on the amber accord. It draws on the mosaics of the Byzantine world and on Gustave Moreau's painting of Salome: theatrical, luminous splendor with a dark, obscure side. Bergamot and cinnamon open it, geranium forms a brief floral heart, and benzoin, labdanum, frankincense, leather, styrax and ambergris build a deep, resinous base. Reviewers describe a well-balanced incense-and-leather amber rather than a sugary one.
