Eight & Bob Egypt EDP

Description

Egypt is an aromatic lavender that dries down to spiced woods and a faint, polished leather. Released in 2014, it comes from the Eight & Bob archive of 1930s formulas: house lore says Albert Fouquet composed it after a 1935 trip to Egypt to visit a childhood friend. It opens on bright, slightly herbal lavender with lemon and a mossy edge, turns warm through cardamom and nutmeg, and settles on sandalwood, patchouli and leather. Reviewers keep noting that the lavender stays present all the way through, and that the leather only shows itself in the drydown. It reads as a refined spicy-woody fougère rather than a barbershop lavender.

Scent Character

Translation: a woody fragrance first, with sandalwood and patchouli doing most of the work. The fresh and floral shares are the lemon and lavender up top, and the warmer slice is the patchouli and leather in the base. There is no oud in it.
