Byredo The Absolu's Set
Description
Five Byredo fragrances in their Absolu de Parfum versions, the richer reworkings of Bal d'Afrique, Mojave Ghost, Blanche, Black Saffron and Gypsy Water, side by side in one set. Each Absolu keeps the idea of the original and pushes it further: Bal d'Afrique turns toward praline, Black Saffron goes darker with incense and leather, Gypsy Water leans into orris, suede and vanilla. This Byredo Absolu discovery set lets you wear them on your own skin before committing to a bottle. It also makes a smart gift for someone who already owns a Byredo original and wants to know what the Absolu adds.
What's Inside
Five 1mL samples, all Absolu de Parfum:
- Bal d'Afrique Absolu: bergamot, lemon and blackcurrant, a heart of praline, violet and musk, and a base of black amber, cedarwood and vetiver. Bright citrus turning warm and gourmand.
- Mojave Ghost Absolu: sapodilla and ambrette, then magnolia, violet and sandalwood over musk, amber and cedarwood. Soft, woody and powdery.
- Blanche Absolu: aldehydes, black pepper and neroli, a heart of rose, violet and jasmine, and a base of musk, ambroxan and cashmere wood. Clean white florals and skin musk.
- Black Saffron Absolu: pepper, blackcurrant and saffron over rose and osmanthus, settling on incense, patchouli, agarwood and black leather. Dark, spicy and leathery.
- Gypsy Water Absolu: bergamot, black pepper and pine needles, a heart of orris, carrot seed and incense, and a base of vanilla, white suede and ambroxan. Pine and incense softened by powdery vanilla.
How To Use a Discovery Set
Each 1mL sample comes in a 2mL vial filled halfway, so the vial will look half full. That is the correct amount, and it gives you roughly 15 sprays. Every vial is labeled with the fragrance name.
Wear one fragrance a day, on skin rather than a paper strip, and give it the whole day. The first ten minutes are the loudest and least representative part of any fragrance; judge it at hour three. Once you have a shortlist of two, wear them on opposite wrists and compare. These are concentrated, so start with one spray; if you own an original Byredo, wear it on one wrist and its Absolu on the other.

FAQ
How is an Absolu different from the original Byredo?
It is a more concentrated, reworked version of the original, not just a stronger copy. Some notes change: Bal d'Afrique Absolu adds praline, and Black Saffron Absolu adds incense, patchouli and agarwood.
Which one should I start with?
Start with the Absolu of an original you already like. If you are new to Byredo, Blanche Absolu and Mojave Ghost Absolu are the softest; Black Saffron Absolu is the darkest.
How much is in each sample?
1mL each, in a 2mL vial filled halfway, which is about 15 sprays.
Is this a good gift?
Yes, especially for a Byredo fan. Five different styles in one box mean they can explore the Absolu line without anyone guessing at a single bottle.
What if I love one of them?
Order a larger decant or a full bottle of that fragrance separately once you know which one you want.
