Seven fragrances from Azzaro's Wanted family, the easiest way to make sense of a line whose names are almost impossible to tell apart. It began in 2016 with Wanted, a bright lemon-ginger-cardamom scent, and has since split into three directions: fresh (Wanted Tonic and Wanted EDP), dark and spicy (Wanted By Night), and sweet and boozy (The Most Wanted). Two of them share the name The Most Wanted Intense, one EDP and one EDT, and they smell quite different. Wearing them in turn settles the question fast, and the set makes a good-value gift for anyone who likes designer scents.

• Wanted (EDT): the 2016 original. Lemon and ginger over cardamom and juniper, on tonka and vetiver. Fresh and spicy.
• Wanted By Night (EDP): cinnamon and mandarin over incense and cedar, on tobacco, vanilla and benzoin. The darkest and spiciest of the family.
• The Most Wanted Parfum: red ginger over woods, on bourbon vanilla. The highest concentration of the seven, and the richest.
• The Most Wanted Intense (EDP): cardamom, toffee and amberwood. Sweet, warm and caramel-like.
• The Most Wanted Intense (EDT): bergamot and lavender over a liquor and moss base. Boozy but lighter on its feet than the EDP.
• Wanted Tonic: lime, ginger and patchouli. The brightest, zestiest one.
• Wanted (EDP): juniper berry, sage and vetiver. Green, aromatic and clean.

How To Use a Discovery Set

Each 1mL sample comes in a 2mL vial filled halfway, so the vial will look half full. That is the correct amount, and it gives you roughly 15 sprays. Every vial is labeled with the fragrance name.

Wear one fragrance a day, on skin rather than a paper strip, and give it the whole day. The first ten minutes are the loudest and least representative part of any fragrance; judge it at hour three. Once you have a shortlist of two, wear them on opposite wrists and compare. Group them as you go: fresh (Wanted EDT, Tonic, Wanted EDP), dark (By Night) and sweet (the three Most Wanted). Most people end up loving one group and not the others.
